Privacy Policy
Last updated August 23, 2026
Home Insurance Depot (homeinsurancedepot.com) helps homeowners compare home insurance options and connect with licensed insurance agents by phone. This policy explains what information we collect, what never leaves your device, who we share information with, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it the way we write everything else on this site: plainly.
The short version: we collect very little. There are no accounts and no passwords, we never ask for payment information, and the most personal thing we hold is the name and email address you give us if you join our newsletter.
1. What you give us
Two features on this site accept information from you. The pre-qualification questionnaire asks a small number of multiple-choice questions about your home (for example, its type and the era it was built); your selections are used to route your call to a licensed agent who can actually help. The newsletter join form asks for your first name, last name, and email address so we can send you the newsletter you signed up for.
If you call the phone number shown on this site, you will be speaking with a licensed insurance agent, and anything you share on that call is between you and them — see "Who we share with" below for how the hand-off works.
2. What is collected automatically
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — pages visited, approximate location, device type, and interaction events such as starting or finishing the questionnaire. Analytics runs only on our production site, and free-text you type is never sent to it.
The newsletter form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which analyses signals about your browser and interaction to distinguish people from bots; your use of it is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Like nearly every website, our hosting infrastructure also keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability.
3. What stays in your browser
Two things are remembered in your browser’s local storage and are never transmitted to us: your finished questionnaire answers (so a return visit lands on your result instead of asking again) and a flag remembering that you joined the newsletter (so we stop showing you the join form). Clearing your browser’s site data removes both. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
4. How we use information
We use the information above for exactly four things: connecting you with a licensed insurance agent when you choose to call; sending the newsletter you asked for; understanding and improving how the site works; and preventing spam and abuse. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
5. Who we share with
When you place a call from this site, your call — together with the questionnaire selections you made — is routed to a licensed insurance agent or agency so they can help you from context rather than from zero. From that point, the agent’s own privacy practices and any carrier’s apply to what you share with them.
We also use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf: Resend (email delivery for the newsletter), and Google (analytics, reCAPTCHA, and the cloud infrastructure this site runs on). Each receives only what it needs to do its job. Beyond these, we do not disclose personal information unless the law requires it.
6. Email and unsubscribing
The newsletter arrives once or twice a month, and every issue carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately — no login, no confirmation emails, no retention questions. Unsubscribing removes you from the mailing list; if you would also like your contact record deleted entirely, email us at quotes@homeinsurancedepot.com and we will do it.
7. Retention
Newsletter contact details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Analytics data is retained on Google Analytics’ standard retention schedule. Infrastructure logs are short-lived and rotate automatically. The questionnaire answers stored in your own browser stay until you clear them or start the questionnaire over.
8. Children
This site is about homeowners insurance and is directed at adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has given us information, contact us at quotes@homeinsurancedepot.com and we will delete it.
9. Third-party sites
Our guides and data pages cite and link to third-party sources, and the agents we connect you with may direct you to carrier websites. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this one does not extend to them.
10. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, the date at the top changes with it. A material change — collecting something new, or sharing with someone new — will be reflected here before it takes effect, so this page is always the current answer to what we do.
11. Contact
Questions, access requests, or deletion requests: email quotes@homeinsurancedepot.com. We answer privacy mail from a person, not an autoresponder.
